Welcome to AgentBell. This Privacy Policy explains how AgentBell ("we," "us") handles information related to your use of the AgentBell macOS application, the agentbell.dev companion website, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
Our core privacy commitment is simple: you stay in control of your personal data. AgentBell is designed with a privacy-first architecture: sensitive workflow signals are processed locally on your device wherever feasible, and we do not use your source code or full chat contents to train AI models.
1. Information we do not collect
To protect your privacy, unless you explicitly authorize a feature that requires it, we do not upload, access, or centrally store the following categories of core data generated or processed on your device:
- Source code and project contents: We do not collect your repositories, files, or code for cloud processing as part of the App’s design.
- Full IDE or assistant chat logs: We do not upload complete transcripts of your conversations with third-party AI tools.
- Clipboard contents: We do not collect clipboard data for cloud storage.
- Screen captures or recordings: We do not record your screen for upload to our servers.
- Granular behavioral profiles: We do not build detailed cross-application behavior profiles for cloud analytics. Any rhythm or status signals used for features are handled locally as described in our product documentation and Terms of Service.
In short, your core work data stays on your machine by design. We do not use such data for advertising, sale, or model training.
2. Limited information we collect and why
To provide, secure, and improve the Services, we collect only a limited set of information that is necessary:
- Account information: Such as your email address and profile identifiers when you create an account via our authentication provider (Supabase Auth) to manage sign-in and service-related communications.
- Payment and subscription records: When you purchase a subscription through our website, payment details are processed by our payment processor (e.g. Stripe). When you purchase through the Apple App Store, Apple processes payment as described in Apple's terms. We do not store your full card number on AgentBell servers.
- Anonymous or aggregated telemetry: Non-identifying technical and usage data (for example crash reports and feature usage frequency) to improve stability and product quality.
- Device and app metadata: Basic technical data such as operating system version and application version to ensure compatibility and diagnose issues.
- Support communications: Information you voluntarily provide when you contact support@agentbell.dev or similar channels.
3. Legal bases (EEA and UK users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract: Processing account and payment information as necessary to provide the Services you request.
- Legitimate interests: Improving and securing the Services through limited, non-identifying analytics and infrastructure logging, balanced against your rights.
- Consent: Where required (for example optional communications or cookies beyond strictly necessary uses), we rely on your consent.
4. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data only as follows:
- Service providers: With vendors who assist us in operating the Services, such as payment processing (Stripe and Apple for App Store purchases), authentication and database hosting (e.g. Supabase), and website hosting (e.g. Vercel), subject to contractual safeguards.
- Third-party sign-in: If you choose Google, Apple, GitHub, or similar OAuth providers, their processing is governed by their respective privacy policies.
- Legal compliance: When required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, AgentBell, or the public.
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice as required by law.
- With your direction: When you explicitly ask us to share information or connect integrations.
5. Data security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures designed to protect the limited information we hold against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, including encryption in transit where appropriate, access controls, and secure development practices.
Security of data on your device is primarily your responsibility. Because core workflow data is stored and processed locally, we strongly recommend keeping your operating system and software updated and maintaining backups.
6. Data retention
- Account information: Retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes, unless a longer period is required by law.
- Billing records: May be retained as required for accounting, tax, and fraud-prevention purposes.
- Aggregated or de-identified analytics: May be retained for product improvement without identifying you.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including California, EEA, UK, and Switzerland), you may have rights such as:
- Access to the personal information we hold about you;
- Correction of inaccurate information;
- Deletion of your information, subject to legal exceptions;
- Restriction or objection to certain processing;
- Data portability where applicable;
- For California residents, the right to opt out of “sale” or certain sharing—we do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA in the traditional sense.
To exercise these rights—including requesting deletion of your account and associated data—email us at support@agentbell.dev or use the account deletion option in the App (Settings > Delete Account). We will process verified requests within 30 days as required by applicable law.
8. Children's privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
9. International data transfers
We may process and store information in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. If we transfer personal data from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to other countries, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or other mechanisms permitted by applicable law.
10. Changes to this policy and contact
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on this page and/or notify you through the Services. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
